Workshop on Counterfeiting and Technological Solutions: VN Check Presents Innovations at the National Steering Committee 389 Conference

On the morning of October 22 in Hanoi, VN Check participated in a workshop titled “Counterfeiting and Technological Solutions Against Counterfeiting,” organized by the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389. Participants included representatives from ministries, sectors, localities, associations, businesses, and experts.

In his address, Mr. Trần Đức Đông – Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 – raised a warning: the current situation of counterfeit production and trading is evolving in complex ways, with methods becoming sophisticated and shifting strongly toward e-commerce and cross-border channels. In this context, he stressed that it is more urgent than ever to study and unify awareness, improve the legal system, and particularly to promote the application of technological solutions.

At the workshop, the ministries, localities, associations, enterprises, and experts concentrated on four main topics: common awareness about counterfeiting; sanctions for the acts of manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods; the mechanism for operating the fund for anti-counterfeit prevention; and technological solutions in the fight against counterfeits. They also shared experience and proposed solutions to strengthen the effectiveness of anti-counterfeiting efforts, protect consumers’ rights, and build a transparent, healthy, and sustainable business environment.

Mr. Đông also pointed out current limitations: overlapping laws and sector-specific regulations make it difficult for enforcement agencies; the sanctions remain light and insufficiently deterrent, resulting in a situation where “profits from counterfeiting are greater than the legal risks.” Therefore, he and other participants agreed that state agencies need to study amendments toward heavier penalties for organizations and individuals who violate the law, encourage whistle-blowing of counterfeit manufacturing and trading, and accelerate the deployment of technological solutions to protect the legitimate rights of consumers more effectively.

From the perspective of the company side, Mr. Mai Quang Thịnh – Chairman and CEO of Global Technology & Digitalisation Joint Stock Company – representing VN Check, proposed technological solutions to the Steering Committee. He presented the basic features of the company, its research and development process, and the technology infrastructure and ecosystem of integrated products and services of VN Check.
